Is it difficult to remove at the end of the day and how long does it take to put it on? Does she need to re apply in between matinee and evening shows? Obviously she can t leave the theatre for dinner. How does it all work huh? Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.How do they apply all that green make up onto the actresses playing Elphaba in ';Wicked';?
The makeup is from MAC and is called Chromacake. The color is Landscape Green.
Its water based so there are no problems with allergies related to ingredients in makeup. They use wide Japanese brushes to do her face, neck and hands. Then smaller brushes to make sure they get everything. Purple blush and eyeshadow are used because the green flattens. The eyebrows are colored in with black. A setting powder is then applied so she can touch other people, kiss, etc...without the makeup coming off on everyone and everything.
During the intermission, they make her look more like an adult than a Shiz school girl. It takes about 30 minutes before each show to apply the makeup and about 10 minutes in the shower after to 'de-greenify'. She also wears a green body suit that blends into the makeup.
Also, she always has a green light on her to accentuate the makeup. She washes it off after each show. The makeup is very light and several of the actresses who play her say they get very used to wearing the green because it isn't uncomfortable or anything like that.
At first they airbrushed it on, but decided not to because the particles flying around weren't good for people singing and it wouldn't hold so everyone and everything Idina (Elphaba original b'way cast) touched would have green on them.
~~~~~~~~~~~
To the answerer below me: It is not your regular face paint, what you posted can irritate pores and cause allergic reactions. Stage makeup is different from just costume makeup. Stage makeup is meant to look as realistic as possible, but costume makeup is just for fun.
%26lt;}:~)How do they apply all that green make up onto the actresses playing Elphaba in ';Wicked';?
They originally tried doing it with an airbrush, but the make-up designed as well as Idina (original Broadway Elphaba) decided that it wasn't very good for their lungs to be inhaling all the make-up flying around.
There are a few video's on youtube which show different actresses getting the make-up on.
broadway.com did a video on this about a year ago, it shows how elphaba gets ready before a show, and lots of other stuff,
he is a youtube link
btw its in 2 parts
hi
its face paint and you spray a mist of water onto the pallete and apply with a small piece of sponge, its quite easy to put on and soap and water will get it off no problem, it doesnt take too long to apply, if you have a practice and time yourself, it might no need to be re applied betwwen shows, you might need just a touch up, take a look at this website for more info.
something gold or sliver
I'd suggest trying L'Oreal's True Match Foundation because they come in a variety of undertones. A lot of foundations tend to be ashy on African American skin. They also have a corresponding concealer (I'm not really the biggest fan of the one the picked for my skin tone, but I think if I looked at other ones, I'd probably find one that I liked. I also hear that L'Oreal HIP has foundations with gold undertones.
As far as eyeshadows go, you have a lot of choices. Darker skin is more versatile when it comes to color, but if you're new to makeup, I'd stick to natural/neutral colors and eventually if you're feeling more adventurous you can experiment with color. One of my favorite colors is gold and my favorite gold is L'Oreal's single eyeshadow in Gilded Bronze (the name says bronze, but it looks more gold on me).
Hopefully that's a good place to start and you have some good ideas of where to look. Good luck!
Sukina, I use aularale.com/7002 - it is excellent. From the skin care to the foot cream - I highly recommend it. Check out aularaletv.
honeyy,
i think u should use ';revlon beyond natural'; the new foundation
black liqiud eyeliner
just buy revlon
You can go much bolder with color and make sure you get products for your skin because your skin will absorb more color as well. Browns and bronzes for eyes will look really nice. Even some champagne color near the corner of your eyes. It depends on your tone but plums are good for blush and lips. If you are lighter, make them more berry.
start with the eyes like black eyeliner , black mascara , a nude eyeshadow and wear a colored gloss . This you can just pick up at the drug store
Then go to like concealer , foundation and blush . For these I recommend that you go get color matched at : Mac , Fashion Fair , etc .
you have to play to your skin tone. use pinky browns, golds, browns and bronzes. i wouldn't recomend sivler or blue as they can look quite ahrsh sometimes on darker skintones-not for everyday but amybe for a night out.
African American's have Beautiful shades of skin. All you probably need is a little eye make up to start out with. Such as eye shadows (all fun colors), mascara, eyelash curler.....
Try the brand MAC
Mascara, eyeline, blush and lipstick.
Log on to youtube and if there is a particular colour you want to experiment with do a search in youtube. ie ';purple eyeshadow'; or ';purple smokey eyes'; for example; youtube will display numerous tutorials using purple eyeshadow.
Try Mac for lipsticks as they have lots of colours that suit dark skins.
What order do you apply your make up?
i have eye shadow, eye liner, foundation, %26amp; mascara.
what order should i put them on?What order do you apply your make up?
(I'm no expert), but, for me, the easiest order would be
1. foundation
2. eye shadow
3. eye liner
4. mascaraWhat order do you apply your make up?
Mascara first because if you mess up and want to clean it up with a Q tip and make up remover you don't remove the foundation and other stuff you have put on
next foundation and concealer if you need it
powder
eye shadow
blush
then
eye liner
I usually start with powder, blush,eye liner, eye shadow, then mascara. But if you've been with your same routine and you are good with it, just stick with it. There's no rule to what order.
foundation,eyeshadow,eye liner, then mascara
if you tend to have fall out a lot or you are a little sloppy(nothing wrong with that :D) then do foundation last
it's best to work from the ground up. you're make up should be put on in layers. so foundation, eye shadow/blush, eye liner, mascara, anything else (lipstick).
foundation, eyeshadow, liner then mascara. Tested and approved.
That's a weird order...
Mines is : foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, %26amp; lipstick.
foundation, concealer, eye liner mascara, blush, lip gloss, eye brow fill.
Eyeliner, mascara, foundation, powder, lipgloss.
- Foundation
- Eye Shadow
- Eye liner
- Mascara
I usually only use mascara so I would curl my eyelashes then mascara
foundation,eye shadow,eye liner, mascara
foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara
foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara
moisturizer
cover up
powder
eyeliner
eye shadow
mascara
lip gloss
i would say foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner and then mascara....
How do you properly apply make up?
i kind of know how to..but i want to know stuff about applying foundation, concealors, blush, eye make up etc.How do you properly apply make up?
To begin with, I have to tell you that I'm pretty preppy. You didn't define what look you were going for so I'll just take you through my routine:
I start with cover up, which is basically a foundation or concealor. It covers blemishes, levels everything out, and makes everything one color. It can be good or bad, but the bad part is that your natural color is basically lost along with your cheek color. Next I apply bronzer that is about 2 shades darker then my natural color. It gives your skin a more natural look and dosn't make you look fiber glass. Also if your foundation is pale, it covers it up and makes you tanner. Remember to eliminate any lines left around you chin and put it on your neck too, so your face doesn't look fake. Next I apply a light bronzer. Remember, you don't want to look like Bozo. I apply it around my cheek bones a little lighter the farther back on my face I go. You can identifly cheek bones by making a fish face. Then I do my eyes. I have a very small lash line, so I apply a light gray eye liner on the top of my lid and then I use the smudge sponge at the end of the stick to fade it. I use a volumizing mascara, which is basically a clear or white base coat to give you eye lashes length and then a black top coat. DO NOT USE WATERPROOF MASCARA ON A REGULAR BASIS, IT WILL MAKE YOUR EYELASHES FALL OUT, AND PUT THEM IN VERY BAD CONDITION. I also apply just the black mascara to my bottom eye lashes very thinly. I use a very dark grey or a light black eye liner on my bottom lids. I use it on the corner of my eye very darkly, and then lighter the farther on I go down the lid. I eventually make it fade out. I do not use eye shadow anymore because i use top eye liner but if your dark skin gold looks good. Brown or gold eyes a plum color. A shimer looks good on almost anyone. For my lips I just apply a clear gloss over a light pink that matches my skin tone. A clear gloss looks good on everyone. Hope it helps!How do you properly apply make up?
Keep it light and blend well. You don't want harsh lines, and if you're over about 20 you'll probably want to skip anything with glitter in it. Choose colors that compliment your coloring and emphasize your best feature (eyes or lips).
For specifics, your best bet would be to go the cosmetics counter at a department store and ask if they do makeovers - they'll show you how to figure out what makeup will work for your skin type and coloring and how to make the most of your own beauty.
if u want to know the proffesional way of applying makeup i suggest u visit a makeup specialist.. but in my own way .. i apply my eye makeup first then foundation conealor and the blush for the final touch before applying the gloss
Try going to the cosmetic counter at a local department store. They help with makeup application...and no, you don't have to buy their expensive products.
Beyond that, go lightly with make-up. Be sure foundation is the right shade and well blended, and that blush, eye shadow, etc. are applied, not painted on.
well eyeliner is easy...
**take the very tip of the liner pencil and lightly apply it to your eyelines a.k.a the lines above and below your eye, until it is as dark as you want**
**mascara is complicated sometimes. if you have thick lashes u won't need much of it. but all you do is take the mascara brush and gently sweep it upwards on your lashes.**
**eyeshadow isn't that hard either. take the eyeshadow apply it on the shadow brush as heavy as you want (i would recomend not too much)then gently sweep it across your eyelid until you (again)have it as heavily applied as you wish.**
I would tell you about the foundation and concealors but I don't use them. sorry hope these tips help!!
Does anybody have tips on how to apply make-up? especially eyeliner and eyeshadow?
i prefer liquid eyeliner because it glides on and gives a smoother finish, it oes take a little practice though.
there are many tutorials on youtube for applying shadow and liner,
eyeliner:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdp_UAvA1鈥?/a>
http://www.xanga.com/RiceBunny/623535738鈥?/a>
eyeshadow:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdkLvBJJs鈥?/a>Does anybody have tips on how to apply make-up? especially eyeliner and eyeshadow?
if you want to do liquid eyeliner first use a pencil as a guideline and then trace over it with liquid. Comes out perfect everytime!
I like the twist up pencils the best and I use that kind on a daily basis.
If you want a natural look for your eyeliner stay close to the lashline.
To make eyeshadow really stand out and last all day, use a primer. Urban Decay Primer Potion works really well.
As far as eyeshadow application goes it's best to watch videos on youtube and do it as they do it. The smokey eye is pretty easy to do and you can use different variations and colors with it. Or you can just start out with one color all over your lid.
Anyways, hope i helped!Does anybody have tips on how to apply make-up? especially eyeliner and eyeshadow?
i just wanted to share my findings from last night.
I just saw a product called ColorOn Eye Envy
http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hier鈥?/a>
Cool Huh.
i wouldnt be bold enough to wear those animal print ones though.
i use almay its like the twist up kind and i use black.
put it on the inside of the bottom of your eye and you could put it on the top if you want but i just put it on the bottom.
and use black mascara.
and for eyeshadow i use this really pretty tan/sand one or this pink one and i just rub it all over my eye lid and some on the corner of my eye and some under my eye and it looks really pretty:)
im a brunnete so those eyeshadows look good:)
you should type in eyeliner/eyeshadow tutorials on youtube theres loads of results x
http://hannabeth.buzznet.com/user/video/鈥?/a>
i love this :] this is how i do it.
Wow Finally someone who understands me! I cannot deal with liquid eyeliner. Maybe it's because I'm not a heavy applier (?) but it's jsut so thick and wet and ouch!. You have to have like Jesus hands (haha no harm meant (:) to be able to apply it without looking awful. I'd wikihow it or something, but it's pretty self explanitory if you're just starting off. When you get into the trickier looks, I'd check out Panacea (user on youtube) who is gorgeous and is professional (she does makeup tutorials) Also, she has a simple school look on there and that might be what's for you.
i think the easiest to apply is a roll up pencil eyeliner, i like liquid on the top, but it's a little hard. as for eyeshadow, put a medium shade on your lid, darker shade in the crease and a lighter shade on the brow, i like to use greens, purples, and golds (i have green eyes) with some sparkle in them.
eyeliner is tricky...i prefer a pencil...
