Hey, I never thought I'd see this question! Personally I find it gross and it seems to have become acceptable behaviour in the past few years. Just get up 15 minutes earlier rather than subject the train to a wide open mouth when applying mascara!
It is rather like me boarding the train unshaven then having a wet shave during my journey. I bet people wouldn't like that!I am a woman and cannot understand why women apply make-up on public transport?
lol i've just finished reading all the comments. i put on my makeup in the car while my mom is driving me and my brothjer to school and i'm pretty good at it. no janked up eyeliner. Report Abuse

and we take the car with non tinted windows so whenever i'm at a stoplight i just stop putting on makeup. and then when she starts driving i put on makeup. lol. Report Abuse
and on my way to school we always pass this group of people who are trying to cross a street to a huge office bulding. but it used to take 10 minutes to get to my middle school. not it's gonna take maybe 3 minutes to get to high school. Report Abuse
I think of it as better time management... it isn't like brushing your teeth or shaving as you pointed out, nor is it the same as doing your hair... it is the finishing touches. There are times when I can actually be more focused applying makup in transit and I know when I MUST be ready by. Report Abuse
Simply reason being we are always in a big rush and always late. the only few moments we can get to put that lipstick on is while we are on that public transport. That's it, we are not trying to make anyone feel bad or jealous, or trying to turn a guy on.
Busy lives...it may be the only chance they get before they start work.
At least they are making an effort and I think that is great.
I just get up earlier on a morning but each to their own.
because they don't have enough time to apply it at home. It's really stupid because it jerks around and you might get a trail of lipstick going up your cheek. Dont do it if you have a hard time putting on make-up even when you're still.
they were in a rush/ running late so they thought theyd hop on the subway/bus and touch up whatever makeup they werent able to apply.
we all have our bad mornings and this just saves time!
They probally get up in the morning and realise that they do not hav time to do thier make-up before leaving for work e.t.c. Because they do not want to turn up without putting the effort in, they simply hav to do it on public transport. However i ageree with you, i dont understand why they do it. If it was me, my make-up would look awful with all the brakes and stops and bumps the transport gets. x
So they can sleep in longer.
Same here! I assume it is lack of time in the morning.
If it bothers you so much you should read a book to distract you. By the way, why would it bother you!!!
Only time I put make up on on public transport is if I have been on a long bus/plane journey and I want to look fresh for my arrival! I wouldnt never do it on the way to work everyday, thats just daft.
Hi, I cant understand it either, they should get up earlier to get ready. Do you know i have even seen women driving applying make up, very often i see women applying lipstick and one morning i was on M62 and a woman passed me at high speed and she was applying her make up, i wish the police had seen her.
haha my sentiments exactly.
even worse, i knows girls who put makeup on during classes
to save time i guess
i have no clue either, i guess they just dont have time, or they need something to do while geting where they need to be
Maybe they're running late? That's the only time I apply in public.
think its a nervous thing.liike smoking a cigarette.the need to do something when surrounded by strangers
because they dont have time to do it at home?
I am a woman and cannot understand why women apply make-up in their cars while driving to work, how the hell do you apply mascara while trying to drive, even if you are in a traffic jam?
That's at least better (and safer) than putting it on while driving. I drove behind a woman on my to work Friday who was doing her eyemake at every red light and stop sign. It was worse than driving behind someone who's talking on their cellphone while driving (which is something I never thought I'd say).
Maybe they're running late and don't have time to do it t home. If I was I'd certainly not give a **** who saw me putting it on!
i think they do it to entertain us lol
there is nothing funnier than watching someone smear lipstick up their face when u go over a bump lol (and ye i'm a woman too i just think its a bit odd i mean how long does it really take to do it at home)
It's a bit obvious really...Not having time to do it at home and most women don't want their work colleagues to see them without the 'mask'!...scary!!!
I can't understand why women feel the need to drive and apply make-up at the same time. Your eyes need to be on the road, not the mirror applying make-up.
They may have been travelling for a long time and want to ';touch up'; before reaching their destination so they look good. Or they might have been in a rush to get on the transport and not had time to apply makeup so did it on transport.
Hey - you might have seen me applying makeup as I've done it after a long journey and wanted to look decent for when I got off the train. Plus also done it on train when didn't have enough time before I left.
That's graffiti its against the law isn't it
The main reason is they dont have time to do it at home. Another reason is they just want to do some touch up maybe for their job or even for a guy they are going to see.
Me neither. Isn't it gross? I makes me want to point them towards the bathroom. But I don't.
Because they're vain and think they're better than you because they wear more makeup. They want to show off how hard they have to work to look as good as they do. Which is pretty pathetic really...
The only reason I can figure out is that they want more sleep so they wake up later and then have to do their make-up on the run.
